No matter what you’re into, whether it’s running 5k races or gathering with buddies at a local brewery, we bet there’s a way you can support Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks while doing it.
RAMROD (Ride Around Mount Rainier in One Day) is the Pacific Northwest’s premier one-day ultra-marathon cycling event. Put on annually by the Redmond Cycling Club on the last Thursday in July, it combines the incomparable scenery of Mount Rainier National Park with a challenging course for 800 riders, with 10,000 feet of climbing over 150 miles.
Riders are invited to donate to WNPF when registering and at packet pickup, and some event tickets are auctioned off with 100% of proceeds (less entry fee) donated. More than $170,000 has been raised over the years. Find event details on the RAMROD webpage.
Ride the Hurricane is a challenging round-trip bicycle ride up to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. Hosted by our friends at the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce, this very unique ride offers exclusive, vehicle-free access on your climb from Heart of the Hills up, with several route options available.
Proceeds are split between Washington’s National Park Fund, Peninsula Trails Coalition, and the Chamber, but riders also have the option to make an additional donation during registration. Nearly $10,000 has been donated to WNPF through Ride the Hurricane. Learn more and register at ridethehurricane.org.
The Pacific Runderland 5K & Kids Run is a great activity for families and hard-core runners alike to give back to Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks. The USATF Certified 5k course is an out-and-back paved course along the White River that begins and ends at Roegner Park in Auburn, Washington.
A portion of each entry fee is given to Washington’s National Park Fund to support projects in the parks. Since it began, this event has raised nearly $20,000 for the parks. Learn more at pacificrunderlandevents.com.
Dick’s-A-Thon began in 2022 as a celebration of the memory of Ian Cox, an adventurer and lover of the North Cascades (read his story here). Through this truly unique event, participants circumnavigate Seattle via the classic hamburger drive-in, Dick’s, making a 26-mile loop of the city while eating the famed Dick’s menu items along the way.
All proceeds are donated to the Mountaineers and Washington search and rescue organizations, including Washington’s National Park Fund. Learn more at https://www.dicksathon.com.
We like Washington’s National Parks and the Pacific Northwest. We also like running. So, we thought we’d do something we love, in a place that we love to help preserve something we love.
Cheers to Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks! Throughout the year we partner up with local breweries for a Pints for the Parks event where a portion of the proceeds from the duration of the event are donated back to Washington’s National Park Fund. It’s always a fun night hanging out with friends and the local community, talking all things Washington’s national parks and adventures. Occasionally we have a guest speaker at this event, but we always have fun trivia and a free raffle!
Interested in brewing up a future Pints for the Parks event at your brewery/cidery/winery? Please reach out to Kristen Oliphant, Events and Partnerships Manager, at kristen@wnpf.org.

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to extend your love for the outdoors and Washington's magnificent national parks. By supporting the national parks, you ensure that future generations can experience the same awe-inspiring vistas, the same enchanting trails, and the same sense of wonder that you once did and continue to return to. Don't miss your opportunity to have an impact on critical projects that would otherwise go unfunded!
