Jordan Roderick has been a member of the board of directors for Washington's National Park Fund for more than six years. Jordan says the most important reason he supports the parks by being on the board is because of the fun the parks generate. He said, "I don't care if you're 9 or 90, there is a good time to be had!"

Jordan has climbed the three highest peaks in Mount Rainier, North Cascades and Olympic National Parks, but only after moving here from the East Coast, where a "mountain" is a mere 3,000 feet tall. During his first climb of Mount Rainier, he was amazed at the mass of snow he was ascending. He became hooked to the comradeship and athletic effort that goes into a climb of that magnitude. Recently, during a trip to Port Angeles for work (yacht charter business), he took advantage of access to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park to decompress from workday stress. "As I was getting back to my car, a group of mule deer walked through the parking lot. It was magical, and I felt a lot better when I got back to the boat," said Jordan.

Jordan likes to take out-of-staters to Paradise to see the true range of Mount Rainier's landscape: big douglas firs, glaciers and the volcano. Jordan asked, "Where else in America could you do this?"
