Board Vice President, Executive Committee
Senior Consultant, Highland Capital Advisors, LLC
David Rowe has been a member of Washington's National Park Fund's Board of Directors for four years, and serves as the board vice president. He believes supporting our national parks is vital because they connect people of all ages with the natural state of things. Although his first experiences in nature took place in the "desert" setting of Eastern Washington, he has easily found beloved places in each of Washington's three national parks.
David has spent most of his adult life in the Seattle area, and has found inspiration in the natural world of the national parks. "Exploring the natural world reminds me of what's possible and what's necessary - magnificently, effortlessly, patiently, lovingly, respectfully and naturally," said David. From this inspiration came David's desire to become a part of Washington's National Park Fund.
Recently, David and his family explored the beaches of Olympic National Park, from Neah Bay to La Push, by kayak. He also summited Mount Rainier in 2009 as a fundraiser for Washington's National Park Fund, raising more than $14,000. His idea of the perfect national park vacation includes: a ferry from Seattle to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park, followed by a drive to Lake Chelan to take the Lady of the Lake ferry to Stehekin in North Cascades National Park, and then a trip into Mount Rainier National Park to circumnavigate the mountain through Sunrise, Burroughs Mountain, Ohanapecosh and Paradise.
