Chip Jenkins - North Cascades National Park

Chip Jenkins took over as superintendent of North Cascades National Park 4 years ago and has now spent 25 years working for the National Park Service. This is Chip’s 9th park service assignment, in the park where he started his career as a seasonal ranger.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Chip moved with his family at age 11 to California, where he experienced his first backpacking and hiking trip at Camp Four in Yosemite National Park. After completing a degree in parks management from the University of California – Santa Barbara, Chip's park service career took him from the parks on the west coast to national offices in Washington, DC to the Denver service center, back to parks on the West Coast.

Chip describes North Cascades National Park as “Washington’s best kept secret” and encourages visitors to explore the Highway 20 corridor, Ross Lake, Lake Chelan, and Stehekin. During the winter months, Chip enjoys skiing Mt. Baker with his wife and two sons. The family also looks forward to a summer of experiencing the many wild and wonderful places of the North Cascades.
