Diablo Lake Overlook Shelter
One of the most visited sites in North Cascades National Park is the Diablo Lake Overlook along the North Cascades Highway (State Highway 20). In recognition of the 40th Anniversary of the North Cascades National Park Service Complex, Washington's National Park Fund provided $26,000 for the design and construction of a new shelter at the Diablo Lake Overlook. This shelter is designed to give interpretive rangers a place to meet with the public, under the cover of weather, without dominating the natural beautiful landscape of Diablo Lake. Built to blend in, the shelter features a low-profile roof and a stout rock base, mirroring the rock seen from the overlook. Extensive landscaping has improved the area as well.
